Land Use & Housing Committee talks Hillsboro
Hillsboro's Planning Director Colin Cooper joined WEA's Land Use & Housing Committee's meeting this week to give an update on the city.
Cooper shared information about the planning efforts around Hillsboro.
There were a number of questions and conversations around the South Hillsboro area, where dirt is just starting to be moved.
The area south of TV Highway between 209th and 229th avenues is expected to become a neighborhood of 20,000 people with a variety of housing for the full season of life.
WEA member Newland Communities is one of the developers of the South Hillsboro area.
In other planning news, Cooper talked about North Hillsboro, Orenco Station, and the downtown area of the city, including block 67, which was where the old Hank's Thriftway store was located on Baseline.
The city recently held an open house about block 67 and had about 150 people turn out to provide feedback.
The redevelopment of the site will most likely include mixed housing.
