Jobs are still growing on the Westside
The latest local numbers are in from the Oregon Employment Department.
For the first time in at least 20 years, the report shows Oregon's three largest counties are all a full point below the national unemployment average.
The unemployment rates for April show Washington County at 3.1 percent and Clackamas and Multnomah counties at 3.2 percent.
Job growth in Washington County remains particularly strong in construction (+1,000 jobs added); transportation, warehousing and utilities (+1,100 added jobs); and professional and business services (+1,300 added jobs).
Unfortunately, there has been a loss of 1,500 jobs in the semiconductor and electronic products manufacturing industry.
