Breakfast Forum shows Westside mayors' spirit of collaboration

Mayors plus Willey and Lopez   Being among the Westside mayors is not only informational, it is entertaining as well.
Jerry Willey, the former Mayor of Hillsboro, was the moderator of this month's Breakfast Forum, and he cracked jokes about some of his mayor friends.
The forum featured mayors from the cities of Beaverton, Cornelius, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, and Wilsonville.
Watching the mayors on stage was almost like seeing a team at work - a lot of camaraderie.
Wilsonville Mayor Tim Knapp even said, "We don't have individual cities operating in their own geographic area. We all run into each other constantly. And whether it's jobs or housing or homeless, or any transportation, all of these things - it oozes out from one city into another."
The mayors talked about transportation, planning of industrial and residential areas, housing, education and workforce development, and other challenges their cities face.
One question from the audience allowed the mayors to shine a light on assets that may not be as well known as others.
Most of these assets were parks, theaters, and museums, but Tigard Mayor John Cook did talk about a glass business in downtown Tigard that created glass balls as beautification for his city.

The program will also be broadcast on TVCTV's channels by the end of May.
