Treece testifies at State Legislature for transportation
WEA is actively involved in issues at the Oregon Legislature this session, especially in transportation.
Executive Director Pam Treece testified in front of the Joint Committee On Transportation Preservation and Modernization last week.
She was testifying in favor of the transportation package the committee has been discussing.
Treece highlighted the needs the Alliance sees, including:
- Funding for congestion relief, especially for the three principal bottlenecks in the metro region - I-5 at the Rose Quarter, I-205 at the Abernathy Bridge, and Highway 217;
- Stable transit funding to expand service across Oregon;
- Stable funding for the Connect Oregon transportation program that includes investments for rail, transit, bike/ped, marine and airports;
- And solid oversight for the use of the funds.
The package continues to go through hearings as we near the end of the session.
