WEA Board supports two upcoming ballot measures
*updated version of the story
The WEA Board of Directors agreed in February to endorse the Beaverton School District's upcoming May levy renewal and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue's annexation of a service territory in and around Newberg.
TVF&R voters received their ballots for measures 34-280 & 34-281, which would decide the TVF&R annexation for the City of Newberg and Newberg Rural areas.
It's an area TVF&R has been on contract to serve for nearly two years now, and the voters residing in the area support annexation by more than 62 percent.
To make the annexation official, voters in the current TVF&R district needed to cast their ballots in support by March 13 - it does not change taxes paid by TVF&R residents or the service level available to them.

In May, voters will decide on Beaverton School District's 5-year Local Option Levy Renewal, whichwould raise about $31 - $35 million per year.
The district has said the levy renewal would allow Beaverton schools to preserve 300 teaching positions, maintain class sizes, and help ensure students are prepared for post-high school success.
Renewal costs would be $1.25 per $1,000 assessed property value.
Homes with the median assessed value of $238,000 would continue to pay less than $25 per month.
