OHSU & PCC Rock Creek name new presidents
The timing appears right for choosing leaders.
OHSU announcedDanny Jacobs, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S., will be its next president.
Currently, Jacobs is the executive vice president, provost and dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
He will succeed Joe Robertson, M.D. MBA, who announced his retirement about six months ago.
"I am humbled and honored to join this excellent team," said Jacobs. "It's clear to me that OHSU is a special place, deeply woven into the fabric of the community, and by community, I mean all of Oregon's 96,000 square miles. That's very exciting to me."
"My approach has always been about teamwork, collaboration and community. I can't wait to continue the work of improving the health and well-being of all Oregonians, but I know my first two jobs will be to listen to and learn," he added.
Villa will be the new president of Portland Community College's Rock Creek Campus.
He currently serves as the vice president of Student Services at Los Angeles Mission College
Villa will be filling the shoes of retiring Sandra Fowler-Hill.
"I am absolutely thrilled to be the next campus president at PCC's Rock Creek Campus," Villa said. "It is evident that the faculty, staff, students, and members of the community have a deep connection to the college that is infectious. I am looking forward to being a part of the PCC Rock Creek community and to continue our efforts to improve access and success for students."
Congratulations to both men, who will start their new presidencies on August 1.
