Learning more about the SW Corridor Plan & Equity

SW Corridor Presentation   The WEA land Use & Housing and Transportation committees held a joint meeting this week to hear an update on the Southwest Corridor.

Metro's Malu Wilkinson, Chris Ford, and Brian Harber, along with TriMet's Jeb Doran provided insight into the current work being done on the plan - the plan is currently in the draft Environmental Impact Statement phase.
Ford explained some of the community outreach and the routes being discussed.
Harper shared how Metro is looking at affordable housing and economic equity opportunities in the corridor.
The cities of Portland and Tigard are partnering to create equitable housing and ways to build or maintain affordable housing in the project area.
Metro has received a federal grant for $895,000 to develop a corridor-wide strategy for equitable, transit oriented development around the future light rail line.
This effort centers on identifying the housing, employment, and educational needs for current and future residents in the Southwest Corridor.
