New fare system allows passengers to Hop on board

Hop Fastpass   Riders on the TriMet, C-TRAN, and the Portland Streetcar are seeing the emergence of the Hop Fastpass.
It's a way to pay transit fares seamlessly throughout the Portland-Vancouver region.
The Hop Fastpass is an electronic-fare payment system that works like a reloadable gift card and can be purchased at local retailers.
Fred Meyer is one of the stores selling the card, along with TriMet's Ticket Office, C-TRAN's Fisher Landing or Vancouver Mall transit centers, and the Portland Streetcar's Customer Service Office.
Riders will be able to tap the Hop card at a Hop reader and board.
In the near future, the Hop readers will also accept contactless debit or credit cards, along with smartphone mobile wallet pay systems.
"The benefits of this new fare system will be far reaching, bringing more efficiency to TriMet and providing important benefits for our riders, including saving money the more they ride," said TriMet General Manager Neil McFarlane. "We are thankful for our partnership with C-TRAN and Portland Streetcar to make this regional fare system a reality."
