Committee talks Regional Transportation Options Strategy

Kid on bike   WEA's Transportation Committee heard from Metro's Dan Kaempff in January about the Regional Travel Options (RTO) Strategy.
Metro is in the middle of its update to this plan.
The RTO looks at ways to fund programs to help people get places without driving a car alone.
Kaempff said working with partners has been effective, especially nonprofits who can provide public outreach.
The plan will be working on Safe Routes to School.
It also takes into account equity and the use of technology.
In its last grant cycle, Metro awarded $2.5 million to 17 projects - half to projects that help students of all ages get to school by walking or biking.
Metro will be looking for more public feedback soon.
