Washington County receives grant for Cornelius Pass
Washington County is receiving a $1.2 million grant for installation of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) on Cornelius Pass Road.
The grant is part of the Oregon Smart Mobility Network (OSMN) project - a partnership between Washington County, the Oregon Department of Transportation, TriMet, and the City of Portland.
This is a matching grant program, so the County will match it with funds the MSTIP (Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program) Opportunity Fund.
The ITS are technological applications that enhance the reliability and safety of the transportation system.
The improvements planned for Cornelius Pass Road include the most advanced traffic signal controllers such as a Travel Time Measuring System, transit and freight signal priority, a crash-mitigation system, and more.
