Brown announces he's leaving Hillsboro post


Michael Brown   The City of Hillsboro staff and City Council were suprised this week when City Manager Michael Brown unexpectedly announced he will be resigning in January. 
   Brown has been the Hillsboro city manager for seven years and has directed several of the city's accomplishments, including the building of what is now Tonkin Field - home of the Hillsboro Hops baseball team.
   Brown said he's not retiring, but just wants to take a break. 
   "After 34 years of college and work experience, I'm excited to travel with my familyand have some serious fun. The bucket list includes epic motorcycle rides, climbing a few mountains, hiking the Oregon Coast Trail, and touring parts of America, South America, Africa, and beyond. Also, I want to spend more time with my parents while they still grace this planet." 
   Mayor Steve Callaway said, "Michael will remain with us for several more months, and we have scheduled meetings for later this month to outline our next steps in the process."
