The Port of Portland top offs new construction

Topping Off at PDX   It was a whole different scene at PDX recently as something different took to the air.
A 29-foot steel I-beam, the last of the highest beams, was hoisted and set into place on top of what will be the new Concourse E extension.

The concourse extension is part of a series of five large construction projects underway at the airport, known as PDXNext.
It will add six new gates and space for new restaurants and retail near Southwest Airlines flights.
PDXNext is a $2 billion project, investing in the future convenience, comfort, and unique PDX experience for travelers, airlines, and employees.
The project will also give more space to Alaska Airlines in concourses B and C, and it will provide a remodel for concourses A and B too, bringing more efficiency and comfort.
This is also the first new terminal construction at PDX in 20 years.
