Improving access to transit, focus of two open houses

Nike Biketown   New Census data, and a Portland Business Journal article, shows commuting in our region is getting longer.
According to new statistics for Portland (from 2017), 57.7 percent of the population drove alone, 12.3 percent used public transportation, 8.9 percent carpooled, 6.5 percent biked, and 5.7 percent walked to work.
Washington County and the Westside Transportation Alliance are partnering on a project about the First and Last Mile (FLM) to help attract transit riders where there is a gap in reaching home, work, school, or other destinations.
This project hopes to develop strategies to make transit more safe to access and a more viable option for anyone commuting in the region.
Here are the two upcoming open houses:
  • Tuesday, October 15 (focuses on business and the last mile connections)
  • Wednesday, October 16 (community focus)
  • Both are at:
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
If you miss the October 15 event, similar material will be covered on October 16.
