PCC awarded near $1 million grant for STEM education


SarahTeters PCC STEM   Portland Community College (PCC) has received a STEM boost in the form of a nearly $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
   The $999,941 grant will go to the College to Careers in Math and Science Project for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Program (S-STEM).
   With this grant, the project aims to help implement strategies to lower barriers for women and other underrepresented students.
   This project is a collaboration between industry advisors, PCC, and PSU's statewide Oregon Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (OR MESA) Program. 
   The College to Careers in Math and Science Project will award 108 one-year scholarships over the course of five years - 72 of the scholarships will be specifically for those transferring to PSU STEM programs.
