Heading east or north? Beware, detours ahead
It's summer construction season, and travelers should be prepared before leaving the Westside.
Starting Sunday, August 4, TriMet will be working on improvements to the MAX tracks between Interstate/Rose Quarter and Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave MAX stations.
Obviously, these aren't on the Westside, but it will affect and disrupt the MAX Blue, Green, and Red lines.

Those headed to the airport (PDX) will also want to beware of ODOT's work on I-205 northbound.
ODOT was closing all lanes of northbound I-205 between Foster Road and I-84 over the weekend of August 3.

Of course, the other big closure is Cornelius Pass where the detour is said to be off to a rocky start - the Oregonian reports seven crashes occurred in the area in the first seven days of the closure.
The road is closed between Germantown Road and U.S. 30, making for a lengthy detour, especially for trucks carrying hazardous waste, which now have to travel from U.S. 30 to I-405, down I-5, and to Highway 217 to get west to Highway 26.
Officials anticipate the road will reopen around October 1.
