Officials tour Scoggins Dam & talk about its future
In early August, officials from Clean Water Services and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation met with Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and other elected officials from Washington County to tour the area of Scoggins Dam.
The dam is considered seismically vulnerable, and the group met to talk about its future.
Reclamation has been working closely with Clean Water Services to identify engineering solutions for the dam that would protect public safety, secure the region's water supply, and meet future water needs.
Right now there are three solutions that have been identified - two would modify the current site, and the third would place the dam downstream near the current Stimson Lumber site.
The hope is to have a preferred option identified in early 2020 and start the environmental review process.
