PSU releases preliminary population estimates
Oregon has gained 41,100 new residents in the past year, according to new figures released recently from the Portland State University Population Research Center.
This is a 1 percent increase for the year.
Oregon's estimated population went from 4,195,300 in 2018 to 4,236,400 in 2019.
Most of the population growth (86 percent) is said to be from people moving to Oregon, while the rest is a natural growth of babies being born here.
About half of the population growth is shown to be in the Portland metro area.
Washington County saw an influx of more than 7,130 residents, bringing its estimated population total to 613,410, while Clackamas County gained 3,995 new people to its neighborhoods for an estimated total of 423,420.
The data also shows Oregon has gained more than 400,000 people since 2010.
