Members Only – Transportation Revenue Workshop Webinar
Transportation Revenue Workshop Webinars to Address Solutions for ODOT’s Maintenance Budget Shortfall and the Declining Gas Tax
- Westside Economic Alliance conducted a summer transportation revenue workshop to educate our membership on the urgent need to reimagine transportation funding models in Oregon due to declining gas tax revenues from increased fuel efficiency and electric vehicles. This webinar seeks to summarize our findings, as well as spark discussion about potential solutions.
- This workshop focused specifically on determining the funding gap, understanding the problem of the declining revenue of the gas tax, and considering short-term solutions, like increasing existing funding streams, as well as introducing long-term ideas to help solve the gap, like Public-Private Partnerships and Road User Charges.
- This webinar also will serve to give our members estimated impact scenarios that portray how different short-term solutions may affect the annual state transportation costs of the average light vehicle driver in Oregon.
- WEA believes that ongoing engagement with the business community is crucial as WEA seeks to minimize friction in the legislative process regarding transportation funding. WEA encourages continued discussions with the public and business sectors about the implications of new funding strategies, particularly for marginalized and rural communities.
