About the Speakers:
Andrew Desmond – Director of Economic Development Policy at the Oregon Business Council
Andrew Desmond leads the Oregon Business Council’s economic development work. In that capacity he led the staff work involved in the Oregon Semiconductor Competitiveness Task Force and led the coalition that pushed successfully for state policy and investment support in the 2023 legislative session. He also helped form and staff the recent Clean Tech Task Force, another effort focused on developing policy recommendations for how Oregon can be a clean tech manufacturing leader.
Jan Mason – Associate Principal and Director of Equitable Development at Mackenzie Inc.
Jan Mason is an Associate Principal and Director of Equitable Development at Mackenzie, an architecture, engineering, and land use planning firm with several office locations on the West Coast. With a more than 60-year history, Mackenzie’s diverse portfolio includes advanced technology, industrial, commercial office, retail, community infrastructure and public sector projects. Jan is an award-winning leader in communication and initiatives focused on shared prosperity. She has extensive experience advising local, regional, and state governments on equitable and inclusive economic development strategies. This includes crafting grant proposals, promoting supplier diversity, and ensuring equity in contracting opportunities.
Andrew McGough – Executive Director of Worksystems Inc.
Andrew McGough has been the Executive Director of Worksystems since 2006. He brings nearly 30 years of workforce development experience to the organization. Prior to joining Worksystems, Andrew started two successful nonprofit organizations and worked as a consultant offering a variety of management and organizational development services. He is active on several local and state boards, and he currently serves as the Oregon representative to the Community Advisory Council of the San Francisco Federal Reserve.
