With several forums and committees happening this August, here are a few to look out for.

On August 9, our Transportation Committee hosted Joaquin Castaneda of Genentech and Todd Duwe of Perlo for an engaging conversation. This is a great opportunity to hear from businesses that rely on our transportation system to successfully effect business.

Join us on Thursday August 31 for a breakfast forum with Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. Get updates on her in Washington D.C. on behalf of Oregon’s 1st Congressional District. Find out about the work she has been doing to ensure critical community investments in areas like transportation, housing and infrastructure.

In April, as an introduction to our “Collaborating for Regional Growth” forum, I talked about Oregon’s unique land use system. I posed this question, “How do we balance our desire to protect Oregon’s farm and forest land, against our need for good business growth – including manufacturing – that creates a well-trained, well-paid workforce and provides opportunities for investments in a healthy community.”

We said very clearly the forum was a ‘first’ not an ‘only’ conversation on this topic.
